Next Gen Item Writing The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) changed the format of the National Nursing Licensure Exam (NCLEX) effective April 1, 2023. There are many new item types that are present on the NCLEX to measure the testers clinical judgement. The clinical judgement model has replaced nursing process as the framework for NCLEX. Nursing faculty need to understand these changes and develop competence in writing next generation items in order for students to have exposure to these item types throughout the nursing program. This course provides exposure to the changes in NCLEX and features a resources manual for nursing faculty. |

Classroom Without Borders: Faculty Rounding on Clinical Sites The "Classroom Without Borders" project was designed to close the gap between classroom and clinical practice by facilitating knowledge transference. Faculty from a baccalaureate nursing program, teaching foundational medical-surgical courses, round weekly on students at clinical sites working in partnership with clinical faculty to ensure that assignments are designed to achieve weekly outcomes. Faculty provide an immersion experience within clinical that includes handoff reports and Socratic questioning to promote development of clinical judgment. Rubrics are used to grade assignments. Reflection papers and communal blogs about the experience are completed weekly. |
